Indonesian Birds

The Indonesian Wild Bird Conservation Association, or Burung Indonesia, is a membership-based conservation organization established on July 15, 2002.

The organization’s mission is to preserve bird diversity and its habitat in Indonesia; work with communities to achieve sustainable development; and build appreciation, understanding, concern, and love for birds and the environment.

Asian Waterbird Census (AWC)

The Asian Waterbird Census (AWC) is an integral part of the International Waterbird Census (IWC) global waterbird monitoring program coordinated by Wetlands International. In this activity, members of the association and the wider community can learn about the lives of waterbird species directly. Participants are also expected to be able to maintain the sustainability of waterbirds and their habitats.

Celebrating Bird Diversity in Indonesia (MOBI)

Every year, Burung Indonesia invites association members and the wider community to celebrate the diversity of birds in Indonesia. In this celebration, Burung Indonesia holds various activities such as bird watching, wildlife photography, public discussions, environmental clean-up actions, and various other activities.

Nature Trip

Nature trip is part of the Indonesian Bird Membership Program which is carried out specifically for members of the association. In this activity, members travel to locations that have high biodiversity. The purpose of this activity is not only to introduce biodiversity more closely, but also to make friends between other members of the association.

Raptor Migratory Watch

Indonesia is an important area for various types of migratory birds, including raptor species. It is estimated that around one million raptors cross the East Asian-Australasian Flyway corridor which stretches around 7,000 kilometers. Burung Indonesia invites members of the association and the wider community to observe raptors every year during the peak migration season.

Tea Time with Burung Indonesia

To disseminate information and knowledge of conservation efforts, Burung Indonesia holds regular discussion events called Tea Time with Burung Indonesia. In this event, members of the association and the general public can have a dialogue with conservation practitioners, academics, communities, and environmental activists directly.
